How much does a custom website cost in Calgary?
It depends on scope, but broadly: small sites and landing pages run $3,000–$8,000, mid-size CMS websites run $8,000–$25,000, and complex headless or custom builds run $15,000–$40,000+. We'll always give you a fixed scope and a fixed price up front — no padded estimates, no surprise change orders. If your budget doesn't fit, we'll tell you honestly what's possible at your number rather than overpromising.
How long does a typical project take?
Most websites take six to twelve weeks from kickoff to launch. Landing pages and small marketing sites can move faster — three to five weeks. Complex builds with custom integrations, migrations, or accessibility audits take longer. We'll give you a realistic timeline during discovery, with milestones you can hold us to.
What's included in a typical website project?
Discovery and strategy, custom design or theme work, responsive front-end build, CMS setup with editor training, accessibility implementation to WCAG 2.1 AA, schema markup and SEO foundations, analytics setup, content migration if needed, and a launch with full handoff documentation. What's not included unless you ask: ongoing content writing, paid ad management, brand identity work — those aren't our focus, but we can recommend specialists.
Are there ongoing monthly fees after launch?
Only if you want them. Hosting and a domain together typically run $20–$50 a month depending on the stack. Beyond that, you decide: we offer ongoing support and content updates as needed, but we don't lock you into a mandatory retainer. Many of our clients run their sites independently for years between engagements — that's by design.
What makes Breemedia different from other Calgary web development agencies?
Three things. Twenty-five years of senior experience — you work directly with people who've built hundreds of sites, not junior staff billed at senior rates. Problem-first thinking — we diagnose before prescribing, which sometimes means recommending you keep what you have. And accessibility, performance, and AI-readiness built in from line one rather than bolted on at the end. We're a small senior team by design, not a sales engine.
Are you platform agnostic, or do you push WordPress on everyone?
Platform agnostic. We've built on WordPress, custom CMSs, headless stacks (Strapi, Sanity, Payload), Next.js, Astro, and Webflow. We pick what's right for the project — sometimes that's WordPress because the editor experience matters, sometimes it's headless because the front-end stack does. We won't recommend a tool just because we're comfortable with it.
What is AI search optimisation and why does my Calgary business need it?
AI search optimisation is structuring your website so it can be understood and recommended by AI assistants — ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, Claude. People increasingly ask AI for recommendations instead of searching Google. The technical foundations are schema markup, semantic HTML, and entity establishment — making sure AI engines understand what your business is, where it operates, and what it does. Without those, your business is functionally invisible to AI search even if it ranks on Google.
Who owns the website and source code after launch?
You do, completely. Domain in your registrar account, hosting in your name, source code in a Git repository you control, content database you own. We hand off documentation showing every credential, every config, every dependency. If you ever want to take the site to a different developer or run it yourself, nothing about our process gets in the way. That's by design — we build to hand off.
